Park Seasons And Fees.

Mesa Verde National Park in southwestern Colorado is open 365 days a year. Most cliff dwellings and mesa-top sites are visible year-round from the park's roads.

The Visitor Center and Spruce Tree House restaurant & shops are open all year. The Lodge and Campground are open from mid-April to late October - this is also when most guided tours are available. Please call for the most up-to-date schedules.

When entering the park, visitors must purchase a $10 entrance permit, good for seven consecutive days, per family-style vehicle or RV. (See Rates for details about driving in the park.) To fully enjoy the sights, allow one to two days here.


Driving Distances And Directions.

Part of the Southwest's Grand Circle, Mesa Verde is a few hours drive from many scenic wonders. Below are driving distances from nearby cities.

From Farmington, NM (Total distance, approx. 85 miles/1-1/2 hours)

Take 170/140N to Hesperus.
Take 160W to the exit for Mesa Verde National Park.
The Entrance Gate is 1 mile from the exit, the Lodge is 15 miles from the Entrance Gate.


From Durango, CO (Total distance, approx. 50 miles/1 hour)

Take US-160W to the exit for Mesa Verde National Park.
The Entrance Gate is 1 mile from the exit, the Lodge is 15 miles from the Entrance Gate.


From Cortez, CO (Total distance, approx. 25 miles/1/2 hour to 45 minutes)

Take E Main St./CO-789E/US-160E.
Take the Mesa Verde National Park exit.
The Entrance Gate is 1 mile from the exit, the Lodge is 15 miles from the Entrance Gate.


From Telluride, CO (Total distance, approx. 98 miles/2 hours)

Take US-160E
Go through Cortez on 160 - 8 miles.
Take the exit for Mesa Verde National Park.
The Entrance Gate is 1 mile from the exit, the Lodge is 15 miles from the Entrance Gate.
